What is PICKLEBOSS?
PickleBoss is an exciting team-based variation of pickleball that incorporates elements of dodgeball. Teams of four on each side of the court compete to reach 15 points while eliminating opponents, with the minimum team size being three players.
What is a PickleBoss?
The PickleBoss is the best player on the team, who should be protected at all costs. The game becomes particularly thrilling when only the PickleBoss is left to compete.
How many players play at once?
Four players on each side play at once, so a total of 8 players
So all four players are on the court at once, correct?
Yes
How is a game won?
A game is won when a team reaches 15 points, win by two. Non-Rally scoring.
How does the elimination process work in PickleBoss?
Players are retired from the game when they are hit by the ball on their body (below their neck), or below the wrist holding the paddle. Retired players must leave the court, except of the last player remaining on a team. The game continues until a team reaches 15 points, or winning by 2.
Can a team win by eliminating all of the other players on a team?
No, the last player on any team cannot be eliminated. Play continues, similar to regular pickleball.

Can players use any type of pickleball paddle or ball?
The event can be run using either a foam-styled pickleball or a regulation pickleball. Players can use any USAPA-approved pickleball paddle.
What is the 'Last Player Standing' rule?
If only one player is left on a team, they continue playing alone. For more details Click here
Can players catch or hold the ball?
No, players cannot intentionally catch, swat, bump, hold the ball with their body. The ball must be hit or deflected with the paddle.
What is the cost to participate in The PickleBoss Invitational?
Each player pays $20 to participate, which includes a drink ticket for the post-game social event and a free Moment Pickleball FTO-Mini Training Paddle.
Is there a way to play in the event for free?
Yes, complete the PickleBoss IQ test and score at least a 75%. You will then receive a coupon code via email. Take the test now.
Is there a refund policy for registration fees?
Yes, just let us know and we will refund, no worries.
Is there an age limit for participants?
Participants need to be at least 18 years old for the PICKLEBOSS Invitational.
Where is the PickleBoss Invitational event held?
3rd Shot Longmont on Sept 28th, 2024 from 8-10 pm.
Will there be food available at the event?
Food options will be available for purchase.
Are there any pre-event meetings or briefings?
Yes, there will be a brief pre-event meeting to go over the rules and answer any last-minute questions.
Can players hit the ball with anything other than their paddle?
No, players can only hit the ball with their paddle. Using any other part of the body or equipment by an opponent results in a dead play, a loss of service or a point for the serving team. An accidental carry and or double hit may be permitted if it occurs during the natural swing path of the paddle.
What should I wear to play PickleBoss?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing suitable for pickleball and possibly a long sleeve shirt or swatpants. Glasses are required for safety reasons. The PICKLEBOSS Invitational will give out free hoodies for all registered players.

Can spectators attend the event?
Yes, spectators are welcome to attend.
What should I bring to the event?
Bring your pickleball equipment, appropriate attire, and any personal items you may need. Don’t forget your glasses! Moment Pickleball is offering registered players 50% off any of their training gear, including their Pro-Guard glasses a 3 lens set & case kit.
How do I handle a dispute or issue during the game?
If you encounter any issues or disputes, talk to the PickleBoss on your team, a game official, or an event organizer for assistance. We aim to resolve all issues fairly and promptly.

What should I do if I need to withdraw from the event?
If you need to withdraw, please inform us as soon as possible. Just email us at info@momentpickleball.com.
Are there any specific equipment requirements?
Players are required to wear glasses for safety. Other than that, standard pickleball gear is recommended.
Can players use defensive strategies or formations?
Yes, teams can use various defensive strategies and formations to protect their PickleBoss and eliminate opponents. Strategic play is encouraged to enhance the game experience.
What should players do if they disagree with a call?
If there is a disagreement with a call, players should respectfully discuss it with their PickleBoss, who may then talk to the other PickleBoss or Game official. If the PickleBoss’ cannot come to an agreement, then the official will make a decision or ask for a replay. It’s important to maintain good sportsmanship throughout the game.
Can players switch positions during the game?
Yes, players can switch positions during gameplay and any player can serve or receive the ball, without any required order.
Can a player be revived after being eliminated?
No, once a player is eliminated, they cannot be revived for the remainder of that game. The team must continue playing with the remaining players.
What happens if the PickleBoss is eliminated?
If the PickleBoss is eliminated, the game continues with the remaining team members. However, losing the PickleBoss may significantly impact the team’s chances of winning.
Is there a timeout during the game?
There is one official timeout per game at the 8-point mark, for one minute. It can be used strategically to regroup or discuss tactics. If there is a medical issue, a timeout will be called by a PickleBoss or an official.
Can any Player serve the ball?
Yes, any player can serve at any time during their team's service. Like traditional pickleball, they must follow the standard serving rules.
Is there a 'no-volley zone' like in traditional pickleball?
Yes, the 'kitchen' or no-volley zone applies in PickleBoss. Players cannot volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in this zone.
Are there special rules for mixed-gender teams?
PickleBoss is designed to be inclusive, with no special rules for mixed-gender teams. All players, regardless of gender, follow the same rules and regulations.
Are there specific rules for how the PickleBoss should play?
The PickleBoss can play just like any other team member, but they should be strategic in their movements to avoid being eliminated. The team's success often hinges on the PickleBoss staying in the game.

Can a player intentionally hit the ball at an opponent to eliminate them?
Yes, like in dodgeball, players can hit opponents with the ball to eliminate them. However, allowed ball contact is only below the neck.
What happens if a player is injured during the game?
If a player is injured and unable to continue, they must leave the game. The team plays with the remaining players. If the injury is severe, the game may be paused at the officials' discretion.

What is the starting position for players at the beginning of the game?
At the start of the game, players should position themselves in a manner that they feel is best. The serving team must stand behind the baseline. The receiving team can stand anywhere on the court.
Is there still a 2-bounce rule for serving and returning?
Yes
Are there any restrictions on how players can move around the court?
There are no movement restrictions, but players should be cautious and strategic to avoid elimination.
What happens if the ball hits the ceiling or any overhead object?
If the ball hits the ceiling the play is over and the opposing team wins the point or a side out occurs.
What happens if a player is hit by the ball and it ricochets to hit another player?
If a player is hit by the ball and it ricochets to hit another player’s body, both players are considered eliminated. If a player hits the ricocheting ball in the air or after an in-bounds bounce, the play continues, but the player who was hit must leave the game immediately and safely.
Is there a specific order in which players must serve?
No, there is no specific serving order. Teams can choose which player serves each time they win the right to serve, allowing them to strategize based on the game situation.
